How
to Start Up a Powerlifting Club
Choose a name for your club, and appoint a Club Secretary. His job will be to sort out memberships and competition entries. Make sure you sign up all the people who train with you as GBPF members. This will ensure they have the "3rd Party" type insurance cover that comes with membership. Get hold of a copy of the YNE grading tables (men's , women's), plus the latest competition rules (the internet is the cheapest way - see our links page).
Membership is
dealt with nationally:- GBPF web-site
A Powerlifting club is easy to start up! Most commercial gyms have squat stands (or a safety frame) and a bench. Just arrange a regular training time, and carry on! Ask for advice on training programmes, get into a regular training routine two or three times a week, and enter some competitions!
